Your status
You appoint Timefolk as your limited payment collection agent: we receive clients' payments for your sessions and events on your behalf, and a client's payment to us settles what they owe you. Your earnings are paid into your own Stripe account through Stripe Connect where it is available. Where it is not, they may be sent from Timefolk's own Stripe account by Stripe, or by Timefolk from its own account by bank transfer, UPI, PayPal or mobile money, to the details you give us. Details you enter in Stripe's own flow are held by Stripe. Details you enter in Timefolk's payout form are stored on our servers, encrypted, are used only to pay you, and are never shown to other members.
You run an independent business, and you are the seller of every session you run. You are not our employee, worker, agent, partner or franchisee, except that Timefolk is your limited payment collection agent. You choose whether, when, where and with whom to meet and what to charge within the published band. Nothing in these terms creates an employment relationship, and you are not entitled to wages, benefits or workers' compensation from us.
You are responsible for any licence, permit, registration or insurance that running paid sessions requires where you live (for example tour-guide licensing in some cities), and for declaring and paying tax on what you earn.
You must not offer, imply or accept anything outside the platform's scope: no intimacy, no private premises, no transport of clients in your own vehicle, no cash or off-platform payment, and no activity that needs a professional licence you do not hold.
Your independence
You decide whether to offer sessions, when, where, which listed skills, and at what session fee within your city's published band.
You decide how to run each session: the content, the method, the materials and the order of things. Timefolk gives no instructions on how to run a session. It sets only the safety rules and the Community Standards that apply to every member.
The session fee range for your city exists for safety and fraud prevention. Within it, you set your own session fee.
You may decline any session without giving a reason and without penalty. Declining never affects your ranking.
You may pause or remove your skills at any moment, instantly.
You are self-employed. You are responsible for your own taxes, and we will provide the earnings records you need.
Insurance and licences
You must hold, and keep up to date, every licence, permit, registration and insurance that your sessions need where you run them. Where your skill involves physical activity, equipment, food or travel, we strongly recommend public liability insurance. We may ask for proof, and may pause your skills until you provide it.
Your responsibility and indemnity
You are solely responsible for your sessions and for your conduct during and around them.
To the extent the law allows, you will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Timefolk, Inc., its affiliates, local operators, officers, employees and agents against any claim, loss, liability, fine, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your sessions; your conduct; your breach of these terms or of any law; any tax, licence or insurance obligation that is yours; or any claim that you are an employee or worker of Timefolk.
To the extent the law allows, Timefolk's total liability to you is limited to the greater of the fees Timefolk earned from your sessions in the 12 months before the claim and USD 100. That limit does not apply to amounts we collected for you and still owe you.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
How your skills are ranked
Search results are ordered by relevance to the client's chosen skill, language and availability; then by proximity band; then by completed sessions and rating.
We do not sell placement, and paying us more does not rank you higher.
Fees
Timefolk charges a flat 20% Timefolk fee on your session fee. You receive 80%, plus 100% of any tip and 100% of approved, itemised expenses (travel, admission, tickets, required equipment) that the client accepted before paying. The Timefolk fee is never charged on expenses, and they and must never be used to hide extra earnings. Payment costs are covered by Timefolk's service fee, which the client pays on top of your session fee at checkout, and are never deducted from your 80%. A promotional rate can only ever give you more than 80%; it is shown with its expiry date. The Timefolk fee recorded when a session is created is the one that applies to it, whatever changes later.
Taking your earnings out is separate from the Timefolk fee: Timefolk adds no fee of its own, you pay only the payment provider's withdrawal cost of 1.5% of the amount withdrawn (Stripe, bank or PayPal charges, which Timefolk does not carry). Neither comes out of a session: your 80% is credited in full and these apply only when you withdraw. Both are named separately on the payout, so you can check each one.
The rate is shown on your session fee screen before you publish and on every session.
Suspension and notice
If we restrict or suspend your skills we will give you a statement of reasons.
Except where an immediate safety risk or a legal obligation prevents it, we give at least 30 days' notice before terminating an expert account, and at least 30 days' notice of material changes to these terms.
You may raise a complaint through the in-app appeal route, which goes to a reviewer who was not involved in the original decision.
